Using social metrics to bring back the fun to one of the favourite candy brands in the US

The Challenge

Airheads is one of the biggest candy brands in the US, but had lost ground to competitors, and needed to bring in a new younger consumer.

Our Solution

We turned to social with the aim (right from the start) to build a new connection with a new generation, with trending content that has an organic, creator-first look and feel. That meant giving the brand managers the confidence to loosen the brand guidelines so that we could push our content to be more fun, and at times, totally nonsensical with a homemade feel. This always-on approach has our flexible social playbook at the heart to ensure brand recognition and laddering up to the brand vision - balancing core commercial objectives with social trends. The new approach has already shifted engagement demographics and increased all key social metrics too!
